Concert Presentation: Dylan: A Song Cycle for Baritone and Harp - November 11 at 8pm

The Welsh poet Dylan Thomas died inNew York City on 8th November 1953. To commemorate the 70th anniversary of hisdeath, British composer Michael Stimpson is bringing Dylan, his songcycle for baritone and harp, to Rutgers Presbyterian Church, for the US premiereperformance by leading Welsh baritone Gareth Brynmor John and Royal harpistAlis Huws.

Stimpson artfully combines spokenexcerpts and musical settings of Thomas's poems, letters, stories and, ofcourse, Under Milk Wood, to create a ruminative and evocative monodrama ofdepth and originality.
